This End of Financial Year campaign, we’re raising $30k in 30 days to power the next wave of independent theatre.

Theatre Works is one of Australia’s longest-running independent theatres. We champion, empower and support artists of all experiences, identities and backgrounds to make ambitious new works that reflect, redefine and reimagine contemporary Australia and contemporary Australian theatrical practice. It is right here that many of today’s leading theatre directors, actors, designers, producers, and crew launched their stellar careers.
Our model is unique. We co-produce each performance with artists to help them realise their full creative potential by:
- waiving upfront venue costs (making us one of the most accessible venues)
- sharing the financial risk (we split box-office takings)
- assisting with marketing and publicity campaigns
- providing producing support and dramaturgical mentorship
In the last twelve months alone, we have presented 50 productions across our two venues, supported over 1,000 independent artists and welcomed over 2,000 students to our theatre.
